Our workers

Richard Houle – Leaders’ training coordinator

Role
Equip men of God for ministry in order to train missionary teams as directed by the Holy Spirit.

François Lalonde – Church-based courses coordinator

Role
Promote and supervise Church-based courses. Available for facilitators’ questions and train new facilitators to teach these courses.

François Picard - President

Role
Equip local Churches, pastors, and leaders to train new workers so that each pastor has his own “Timothy”. Encourage Churches to establish a training plan in order to establish the next generation of workers and missionaries. Promote the vision of training leaders, mainly with regard to their character (attitude) and skills in order to spread the gospel of Christ in Quebec and the French world.

François Turcotte - Academic Dean

Role
Assist the president in many tasks in order to equip candidates who are aiming to work in the ministry.

Doug Wilber - Contributor

Role
Encourage, help and support Quebec workers so that they can continue to equip leaders in local Churches for the ministry. Establish a communication channel between English Churches in the United States and French Churches in Quebec.

Our ministries and services

General fund

We identify different needs at SEMBEQ. We would like to increase the employees’ salaries in order to reach the actual market average. We wish to invest in the remodeling or relocating of the offices which is now necessary due to SEMBEQ’s growth. We also need to update our IT equipment. Our services provides 30% of our revenues and 70% is provided by donations.

Library

SEMBEQ, as a seminary ministering in the French world, makes it its duty to offer French material as much as possible. Our library includes books, reference work, periodicals, and electronic documents. You can consult our listing by clicking on Library.

All loans are free. Every donation for the library will allow us to purchase additional books.

Building Project

Still 9 months to reach our target to inaugurate a debt-free building in October 2013!

Total cost of the project: $ 1.6 M

Fundraising campaign target: $ 600,000 = 12,000 x 50 $ bricks

Contribution to this day: $ 250,000 = 5,000 bricks

Scholarships

Need: $1000 or $5000 per scholarship
Our cohort members can benefit from scholarship support. Students have to meet certain conditions. The Gold scholarship program of $5000 is granted annually for a period of six years to students who place a request with SEMBEQ. The Silver scholarship program of $1000 is renewable each year. Students have to place a request each year. This scholarship is applicable on tuition fees, books, and handbooks.

Technological tools for online courses

Need: $2000 per course
An increasing amount of students take courses with web streaming or with on-line access to academic material. In fact, the new cohort is now virtual thanks to technology. Some courses are available via web streaming and on site simultaneously. More time, human and technological resources are required in order to offer a good service to online students.

Courses available on DVD

Need: $4000 per course
We believe it is important to have audiovisual recordings of all our courses in order to offer them to students throughout the province of Quebec, in different training centers, and in the French speaking world.
The translation cost is $4000 per course on DVD (editing and recording).

Expansion of the Master’s degree program

Many of our teachers are foreigners or do not come from Quebec. Our desire is to generate teachers from Quebec. We want to train our future theologians and professors and qualify them to teach the next generations of believers.
We would like to improve our Master’s degree program by hiring qualified professors who can teach graduate students and by offering didactic and audiovisual material that will contribute to effective and superior teaching.

Translation – Éditions SEMBEQ

Need: $5000 per book
Since launched in 1997, Éditions SEMBEQ (SEMBEQ’s publishing department) translated at least one or two books every year. In the last few years, the rhythm has increased with an average of 5-6 books published each year. Opportunities increase every year with more resources to translate. The translation cost for one book is about $5000. Thank you for helping us by making these resources available to the French speaking world.
